Site Description The Million Hope shipwreck

The Million Hope shipwreck is a popular technical dive site located in the Red Sea, just north of Nabq Bay, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Originally named Ryusei Maru, this massive Japanese cargo ship was built in 1972. In 1996, while carrying a load of 26,000 tons of chemicals, it tragically struck a coral reef and sank. The wreck is now a haven for marine life and a challenging but rewarding dive for experienced scuba enthusiasts. Length: 174 meters (571 feet) Depth: Ranges from 9 meters (30 feet) at the main deck to 25 meters (82 feet) on the seabed. Skill Level: Advanced/Technical. Due to its depth and potential for entanglement hazards, this wreck is only recommended for experienced technical divers with proper training and certification. Conditions: The Red Sea is known for its excellent visibility and calm currents. However, it’s always important to be aware of the latest forecasts before diving. Marine Life: The Million Hope has become an artificial reef teeming with marine life. Divers can expect to see a variety of fish species, crustaceans, eels, and even sharks.
