Siyul Al Kabeir, also known as Ras Siyoul, is located on Suyul Island, about an hour and 45 minutes north of El Gouna, Egypt.
The mooring is protected behind the reef, but the trip out can be rough over open seas. Currents can be strong on the north side, so be aware of that when planning your dive.
Siyul Al Kabeir features a beautiful coral reef with two large coral blocks teeming with anthias fish located under the mooring line. There are two main dive plans for this location:
Drift Dive: This is a popular option for experienced divers. You enter the water on the north side and drift along the wall with the reef to your right. The current will usually help you on your way back.
Reef Exploration: This is a great choice for all levels. Divers can start from the shallow reef at around 10-12 meters and explore the coral formations at their own pace, swimming south.
Marine Life
The diverse marine life at Siyul Al Kabeir includes:
Anthias fish
Scorpionfish
Stonefish
Moray eels
Nudibranchs
Many other colorful reef fish
If you are prone to seasickness, be sure to take medication beforehand as the boat ride out can be rough.
A reef hook can be helpful to stay stable while exploring the reef, especially if there are currents.
Be aware of your surroundings and stay close to your dive buddy or group.
Enjoy the beautiful coral formations and the variety of marine life!
Overall, Siyul Al Kabeir is a great dive site for divers of all levels who want to experience the beauty of the Red Sea
