Maxwell’s Reef is located about 500 meters off the Sinai coast, in front of the Ras Amira dive site.
It resembles an underwater island or seamount with a minimum depth of 12 meters (40 feet) that drops off to a maximum depth of around 60 meters (200 feet).
Currents: Currents can be present at Maxwell, sometimes stronger near the surface and diminishing closer to the seabed. This makes it a more challenging dive and is recommended for advanced divers only.
Type: Reef dive with some wall aspects due to the drop-off.
Marine life: Here’s what you might encounter at Maxwell:
Abundant baitfish attracting larger predators.
