Site Description Habili Marsa Alam

Habili Marsa Alam is a circular rock formation that rises from the seafloor southeast of Shaab Marsa Alam in the Red Sea. It’s about 130 meters across and lies 550 meters from the southern tip of Shaab Marsa Alam. Because it’s exposed and outside the shelter of the main reef, diving at Habili Marsa Alam is only possible when the conditions are calm. Large liveaboards cannot moor here during strong winds and big waves. However, divers can take a RIB from the moorings at Shaab Marsa Alam, which takes about 10 minutes, but the ride can be rough on choppy seas. When conditions are favorable, this dive site is a great alternative to the often-crowded main reef and is suitable for less experienced divers. The seabed around the habili is scattered with numerous coral rocks at an average depth of 20 meters, where various fish like the common blue-spotted stingray, butterflyfish, pufferfish, and boxfish, can be seen. A few coral pinnacles can be found near the reef on its southwestern side with recesses that can be easily entered. The most beautiful area is undoubtedly the reef top, teeming with life at a depth of 5 to 2 meters. It’s covered with hard and soft corals, and schools of anthias, surgeonfish, and other marine life abound
