Site Description Cubagua Island

Cubagua Island, located just off the coast of Venezuela, is a haven for scuba divers and snorkelers. Once a thriving pearl-hunting hub, the island is now known for its stunning underwater world, which includes shipwrecks, coral reefs, and a diverse array of marine life. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of marine life in the waters around Cubagua Island, including: Sharks: Caribbean reef sharks, nurse sharks, and even hammerhead sharks have been spotted in the area. Sea Turtles: Green sea turtles, hawksbill sea turtles, and loggerhead sea turtles are all common visitors to the island’s reefs. Tropical Fish: Angel fish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, and damselfish are just a few of the many colorful fish species that can be found in Cubagua’s waters. Coral Reefs: The island’s fringing coral reefs are home to a wide variety of invertebrates, including anemones, sponges, and nudibranchs.
