Site Description Christ of the Abyss

The Christ of the Abyss is a nine-foot bronze statue of Jesus Christ that sits in 25 feet of water off the coast of Key Largo, Florida. It is one of the most popular dive sites in the world and is visited by scuba divers from all over the globe. The statue was donated by the Italian diving equipment company Cressi in 1965 and was placed in its current location by Ezio Testori. The statue depicts Jesus Christ with his arms outstretched in a gesture of peace. It is a serene and beautiful sight, and it is easy to see why it is such a popular dive destination. The statue is encrusted with marine life, and it is home to a variety of fish, including angelfish, butterflyfish, and parrotfish.
