Established in 1996, Cable Reef dive site lies between Black Rock and Rainbow Reef, marking the path of electrical cables laid to Egypt.
The site features four cables running over the seabed. Two cables to the North traverse a deep canyon, where the reef has been reinforced on either side to prevent collapse onto the cables. Large steel netting covers the reef to the North and South, with coral now flourishing through it.
Cable Reef offers excellent opportunities for photography and the chance to witness marine life adapting and thriving in its environment. Despite depths reaching 30 meters, ample sunlight penetrates the area, supporting vibrant growth.
The name Cable Reef originates from a massive cable emerging from the seabed, encased in stones and mesh, adding to the site’s unique appeal.
