Site Description Blind Reef

Blind Reef, also known as Shaabruhr Seyoul, is an elongated oval-shaped reef located offshore in the Red Sea, southwest of Shaab Abu Nuhas . It’s a popular dive site known for its rich marine life and beautiful coral formations. The reef is located offshore, approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes by boat from El Gouna, Egypt. Suitability: Due to its currents and depth, Blind Reef is considered an advanced dive. Divers should be experienced and comfortable diving in open water conditions. Depth: The depth ranges from 12 to 40 meters (40-130 feet). Conditions: Blind Reef is located offshore and exposed, so expect choppy waters, especially during the boat ride. Currents can also be strong, so good buoyancy control is essential. Dive Description Blind Reef is a fringing reef with steep drop-offs on both the east and west sides. The reef itself is covered in a variety of hard and soft corals, teeming with marine life. There are two main ways to explore the dive site: Drift Dive: This is the most popular option for experienced divers. Divers enter the water on the northern side of the reef and drift along the wall with the current. This drift dive will take you past colorful coral formations, overhangs, and schools of fish. Technical Diving: For technical divers with proper training and equipment, deeper exploration beyond 40 meters is possible. Marine Life The abundant marine life at Blind Reef is a major draw for divers. You can expect to see: Large pelagics: Sharks like grey reef sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, and hammerhead sharks are occasionally spotted here. Reef fish: There are a variety of colorful reef fish, including anthias, butterflyfish, angelfish, and clownfish. Macro life: Look closely for scorpionfish, stonefish, nudibranchs, and shrimp. Tips Blind Reef is for experienced divers only. Due to currents, depth, and the possibility of encountering large pelagics, good buoyancy control and awareness are crucial. Nitrox is recommended for deeper dives. A reef hook can be helpful to stay stable while exploring the reef, especially if there are currents. Be aware of your surroundings and stay close to your dive buddy or group. If you’re prone to seasickness, be sure to take medication beforehand as the boat ride out can be rough. With its beautiful coral formations, diverse marine life, and exciting drift dives, Blind Reef is a fantastic dive site for experienced divers looking for an unforgettable Red Sea adventure
